Boulevardier (bool-vahr-DER-Yay)

Boulevardier
Boulevardier

Essence: Rich, Warm, Bittersweet And Stylish

Ingredients: 2 oz Rye or Bourbon Whiskey (Michter's Rye or Woodford Double Oak Bourbon are my go to)

1 oz Sweet Vermouth

½ oz Campari (use 1 oz of Campari if you like a more bitter taste)

Glassware: Chilled Rocks Glass

Garnish: Orange Peel

Instructions:                                                                                                                                                  Combine the bourbon (or rye), sweet vermouth, and Campari into your Rocks glass.

Stir well for about 20–30 seconds, or until it is well-chilled. This cocktail can be served Up or with ice (I like mine with a large cube)

Cigar Pairing: For an evening on the Huntington Beach patio or around the fire pit with family, my first choice would be the Padrón 2000 Natural. It has enough body to complement the Boulevardier, enough sweetness to tame the Campari, and enough complexity to keep the conversation flowing long after the ice has melted.

The Oregon Man’s Note:

A Boulevardier is what happens when the Old Fashioned takes a stylish trip to Europe. Rye or Bourbon steps into the spotlight, joined by sweet vermouth and Campari—bold, bitter, and unapologetically elegant. It’s a drink with an old-world charm and a modern confidence, the kind of cocktail you sip slowly while jazz plays and the room softens around the edges.
