Kristoff

Original Criollo

Established in 2004 by Glen Case, Kristoff Cigars is one of the fastest growing boutique manufacturers in the cigar industry and for good reason. The cigars are well constructed, beautiful to look at and offer unique features such as the uncut foot (the tobacco leaf is tied off to make it easier to light) The way the company presents their cigars is reflective of cool hip American marketing as opposed to more traditional branding that feature family crests or gold leaf crowns. For instance, all Kristoff’s cigar boxes use kiln tobacco leaves wrapped inside of each box as insulation and the bands look like something you'd see on a Napa wine bottle.

The maker suggests the flavor profile includes notes of toasted almond, hints of spice with a sweet finish. Okay I’ll admit that all sounds good but just like most wines and cigars I almost never taste those favors in fact, sometimes I just think they make it up. I will say I did pick up a hint of spice upon lighting up but mostly it was smooth, easy to light, draws well and maybe I picked up the tiniest bit of sweetness at first.

All in all an enjoyable experience. I suggest pairing with a glass of Bold Napa Cabernet, El Hefe Perfect Manhattan or your favorite Rye whiskey with a large ice cube.
