A Cigar Made Even Better by the Company

One of the pleasures of cigar smoking is that every memorable cigar becomes tied to a place and the people you share it with. This Prensado Double T will always remind me of a wonderful trip to Southern Ontario, where Julie and I spent time visiting family and friends in the Waterford, Ontario area.

I revisited the Mississaugas First Nation reservation and their impressive humidor. Any cigar enthusiast knows there's something special about walking into a well-stocked humidor, and after getting some great recommendations bought a few Alec Bradley Prensado Double T to smoke out on the pool deck of Uncle Bobby’s house.

The Alec Bradley Prensado Double T holds a special place in the Alec Bradley story, created as a tribute to the traditions of Old-World cigar making. Rolled at the renowned Raíces Cubanas factory in Honduras, the Prensado was crafted with intention, patience, and an unwavering respect for premium tobacco. That dedication paid off when the Prensado Churchill earned Cigar Aficionado's #1 Cigar of the Year with an impressive 96-point rating, forever changing the trajectory of the Alec Bradley brand.

The cigar became even more memorable when I lit it up with my good friend Tony Palladino, who had made the trip from Alberta with his wife Shelley (my wife’s best friend since kindergarden) to join us. Great cigars have a way of slowing time, and over the next couple of hours we enjoyed exceptional conversation, shared a few laughs, and appreciated everything that makes this hobby so rewarding.

First Impressions

The Double T is an imposing, beautifully box-pressed cigar with a dark, oily Honduran wrapper that immediately leaves a good first impression. The construction is flawless, with a firm feel, nearly invisible seams, and an elegant presentation that hints at the quality waiting inside.

The Smoke

From the first light, the Prensado delivers rich flavors of earth from the foundation, quickly joined by bittersweet dark chocolate and espresso. Tony could taste leather midway through the cigar. Later comes subtle sweetness with hints of cedar, adding complexity without ever overpowering its bold character.

Construction throughout the smoke is nearly perfect. The burn line remained razor sharp, the draw effortless, and the ash held firm for well over an inch at a time. This is the kind of cigar that requires almost no maintenance—allowing you to simply relax and enjoy the experience.
