Cohiba Blue Label Connecticut - An Honest Evening Smoke
The Cohiba Blue carries a reddish, clay-toned wrapper that immediately catches the eye. It’s not flawless—light veins run across the surface, and a few seams felt slightly loose—but the structure holds together well.
The cap is clean and well-applied, making for an easy, confident cut. And of course, the vibrant blue band gives it that unmistakable Cohiba presence. I’m not guy who can pick up tastes like a conisuer - most of what they describe is hard to beleive like “Damp Earth” (give me a break) I did however go a Cigar Afiaindo review to get some tasting notes to see If would recognize any for myself. As you read on I gave an honest opinion on the tastes I could pick up.
I went with a V-cut on this one, my usual preference, then moved into the pre-light draw. Right away, I picked up notes of cocoa and espresso. Nothing overly complex, but inviting enough to suggest a very good smoke ahead. With that, it was time to put flame to leaf.
From the first draw, the profile leaned into what the cold draw promised, espresso, and cocoa leading the way, with a subtle layer of cedar underneath (yes you really can taste the presence of cedar)
First Third: The espresso and cocoa followed closely by a touch of black pepper began to creep in as the cigar settled.
Second Third: This is where things shifted a bit. The espresso softened, while the cedar and pepper stepped forward. The profile became a little sharper.
Final Third: Cedar and pepper took control. The earlier richness faded, leaving a more straightforward finish. Not unpleasant, but lacking some of the depth found earlier in the smoke.
BURN
The burn line stayed mostly straight, though it did require a few touch-ups and one relight to keep things on track. Nothing frustrating, but enough to note.
DRAW
Initially, the draw was tighter than I prefer, which caused minor frustration. Fortunately, it opened up fairly quickly. Once it did, the cigar produced good smoke and allowed the flavors to come through clearly—though it remained slightly snug throughout.
OREGON MAN COMMENTS
The Cohiba Blue fits perfectly in the medium range for both strength and body. It’s well-balanced—never overpowering, never thin. An easygoing smoke that doesn’t demand relighting or too much effort with the draw.
DRINK PARING
I paired the Cohiba Blue with my Walnut Old Fashion. The Demerara Syrup and Walnut bitters creates a nice balance (not too sweet or overpowering) For the full recipe look in the Oregon Man Essentials Series Category

Burn: Good, with a few touch-ups and one relight
Draw: Good, slightly tight (very important to me - frustrating when you have to work overtime just to some smoke out of the cigar)

A solid cigar with a pleasant start and a straightforward finish. It doesn’t quite evolve enough to stand out, but it delivers a reliable, medium-bodied experience—perfect for a casual evening when you’re not looking to overthink the moment.
